ENGAGE ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

Accessibility statement for Deetu Engagement

This accessibility statement applies to this Deetu Engagement.

This website is run by Deetu on behalf of the client. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, which means you should be able to:

The same accessibility rules apply whether you are viewing this website on a desktop or mobile device. The website is built to work on all modern browsers.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Use of plain English

We've made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

We run all our website text through a readability assessment before we launch the website. This allows us to check for words, phrases and sentences that are difficult for the literate general public to understand. We aim for our text to be understood by 100% of this audience.

We know some of the language used in public consultations can be quite technical, which is why we utilise an interactive jargon tool. This allows you to click or hover over certain terms on the website to show a popup definition of that word in plain English. These terms appear with a dotted underline. We try to limit the need for these terms as much as is reasonably possible.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

We want everyone to have an equal opportunity to take part in our consultation. This is why the information on the map is provided as supplementary information to the main consultation material. We also hold in-person consultation events for those who may struggle to engage online.

Feedback and contact information

If you have any problems that aren't already mentioned, or you think we're not meeting accessibility requirements on this website, please email engage@deetu.com. We'll get back to you within 14 days.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the 'accessibility regulations'). If you're not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Deetu is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Requirement for landmark roles

Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Maps

Maps and mapping services are exempt as long as essential information is provided in an accessible digital manner. We have implemented this methodology wherever maps are used.

We aim to meet the needs of all visitors to our site, but we don't yet have a way of presenting geographical information (maps and site plans, etc.) in a fully achievable and accessible format. This is due to the WebGL technologies underpinning the map service we use (Mapbox). As new technologies emerge, we will reevaluate this.

This website is regularly scanned for any accessibility issues using axe DevTools. This website was last tested by Deetu on 30th July 2024 against the WCAG 2.1 AA standard.

We tested various page types and user journeys. We made sure the most popular pages and tasks were represented, e.g. the main landing page and the survey page. We complete our accessibility audits by testing the site using tools such as WebAIM contrast checker (to test the contrast levels between colours) and axe DevTools to monitor for any new issues.
