Help shape Grimsby's next chapter

Let's build on progress and work together to make it even better.
In 2020 we developed a Masterplan for Grimsby town centre, which helped us to attract millions in funding to revitalise the area, based on
what you - our residents, visitors, and businesses - told us was important.
Five years on, we want to show you what progress has been made, and to ask for your valuable thoughts on how we continue this journey.
We want to work together to make Grimsby a place that you, your family, and your friends are proud of and want to spend time in.
To help, we have created an interactive space where you can think about the places you visit now, how you get there and move around, and the
things you would like to would like to see in the future.
What you share will keep your town moving forward - knowing what is important to you and what your priorities are will help us in securing future
funding or investment to help turn ideas into a reality.
There is a short survey to complete at the end of the website. Please let us know your thoughts by Monday 6 April 2026.
You can also meet us at various events we will be holding across the town over the next few weeks to ask any questions.
Grimsby 2020 Masterplan
Haven't we asked you this already? Yes, but we want to know what you think should come next!
Your 2020 vision was to have a welcoming, vibrant town centre that embraces our heritage, supports our businesses, and improves
the quality of life for our people.
We heard how you wanted to open up the waterfront, create spaces for new and exciting activities and enterprises, make streets safer
and more inclusive, and make our town stand out from the rest.

What's already happening?
Great things are taking shape across the town - have you noticed the progress?
Click on the map markers, or read below, to see how the town is changing.
1. St James' Square:
The Hive has been upgraded into a modern business hub supporting small businesses and local entrepreneurs. The Minster and Our Big Picture
provide a multitude of creative and cultural activities around this space, and everyone as the opportunity to enjoy the square, with
living walls, custom paving, and event space.
2. Horizon Youth Zone:
Now open, the Horizon Youth Zone provides a safe, inspiring space for young people to meet up, hang out and learn new skills. Housed in the
restored Grade II listed West Haven Maltings and Migar House, the building has been transformed to preserve the town's heritage while creating
a modern, accessible space for young people to enjoy.
3. Victoria Street:
Led by the 2025 Group and funded through the High Street Accelerator programme, Victoria Street benefits from being pedestrianised, making it
safer and easier for people to get out about and enjoy the new planting and lighting, rejuvenating a core part of the town centre.
4. Freshney Place Leisure Development:
Already taking shape with steels in place for the new cinema, leisure space, food hall and revitalised market space. Alongside the £10m NHS
Clinical Diagnostics Centre, this will bring more people into Freshney Place and the town centre, supporting our shops and businesses.
5. Riverhead Square:
Significant improvements to the Square and the bridge have created a safe, accessible and inviting town centre square. With space for activities
and events in the open, plus the CARE community hub, which recently opened in the former high street bank building where anyone can walk in, sit
down, and have a cup of tea - has created a community focused, beating heart to the town.
6. Alexandra Dock:
Housebuilder Keepmoat has started works to transform the area and create 120 high quality new homes right by the waterfront. The project is a huge
investment in the area, bringing affordable homes right into the town centre for all ages and walks of life.
7. Fishing Heritage Centre:
Our town centre interactive museum, including the Ross Tiger fishing vessel on the water, has benefited from funding through the Humber
Museums Partnership has supported the centre in putting on exhibitions to celebrate the town's culture and heritage.
8. Transport Hub:
Demolition is complete and site clearance underway for phase one of a new centralised, multi-functional green transport interchange, with direct connections
to the station, Abbey Walk car park and surrounding retail and business areas, with space for toilet facilities, benches, a small outdoor coffee
stall and an indoor cafe.

Ambitions for the future
Together we can unlock our town's full potential.
To guide the next chapter, we want to listen to your ideas on how to connect and enhance three distinct areas of the town.
Each with its own identity, improving links for walking, cycling and public transport between the three locations will open
up and connect key destinations, helping to create an inclusive town centre that is simple to get, move around, and spend more
time in.
A unique space, home to the Fishing Heritage Centre, the new Horizon Youth Zone, and a new waterfront housing development underway, celebrating
the town's heritage by opening up access to the water for leisure, sport and cultural events.
Primarily home to shops, this area is diversifying to provide space and support for new businesses, bringing in leisure and entertainment activity
to build on the areas heritage whilst keeping it active, social and vibrant for the future.
Extending the heart of the town centre towards the water, creating new public and community space at the Eastern end of Freshney
Place, providing space for the farmers and craft markets, events and activities.
An area for celebrating civic pride, it hosts the town's key public buildings and major transport links, creating an active and
well-connected gateway. With the train station, future transport hub and offices close at hand, it's a natural meeting point for
workers, visitors and residents. A small but growing mix of shops and cafés adds to its character, keeping the area social and
vibrant as it continues to evolve for the future.
Each area has a role to play in shaping a stronger, more exciting future for Grimsby where...
... businesses grow, jobs are created, and long-term investment secured.
... it is safe and simple to move around the town by walking, wheeling or riding no matter your age or ability.
... everyone has access to affordable, high-quality homes, essential services, and welcoming spaces to connect.
... we celebrate our heritage, growing a vibrant cultural scene that makes the town centre a stand-out destination.
